Design Shanghai, one of the leading design events in Asia, recently concluded its 2024 edition, bringing together a myriad of design professionals, enthusiasts, and companies from around the globe. We had the opportunity to sit down with Sharon Qu, Manager of Aritco Homelift Shanghai Company, to discuss the significance of the event, sustainable design, and the reception of Aritco’s unique exhibition.

Aritco's ‘Fairytale’ captivates visitors at Design Shanghai 2024
Sharon Qu, Manager of Aritco Homelift Shanghai, discusses Aritco’s eye-catching stand and the growing importance of sustainable design at Design Shanghai 2024.
Hi Sharon! Can you tell us about the significance of Design Shanghai in the design world, particularly in Asia?
“Design Shanghai is the highest-level design event in Asia, leading the way in Asian design. It’s the biggest design expo in the region and is held annually in Shanghai. We saw visitors from Malaysia, South America, and the Middle East, all coming to be part of this event.”
And, what was Aritco's participation in this year's exhibition?
“We’ve been at the Design Shanghai exhibition since 2017. The only time we missed it was in 2022 because of the COVID-19 lockdown.
We had a booth at the exhibition, similar to previous years, however it was special this year as we used the same “Fairytale” concept Aritco showcased at Milano Design Week. Additionally, on the first day, Aritco’s Global Sales and Marketing Director, Ida Lindval, participated in a panel discussion with two interior designers and an architect. The topic was “Evolution in Time: Design for a Sustainable Tomorrow”. She shared Aritco’s experience, focusing on using recyclable or non-polluting materials in our designs to promote sustainability.
The audience was familiar with the concept of sustainability, which isn’t new in China. However, I see a lot of potential for individuals to start making more daily efforts to protect the world and give our children a better future. As a company, Aritco is really forward-thinking when it comes to sustainability, and it is important that we act as an advocate for adopting these practices around the world.”
How was the exhibition received by the attendees?
“Our theme, “Fairytale,” was very well received by the audience. Almost every visitor to our booth was intrigued by the display. The response was overwhelmingly positive. The audience, which included high-level interior designers and some end customers, was very interested in the design and how well it all fit together. Lots of people stopped to take pictures. We weren’t able to present our latest designs physically, but we showcased pictures of our new design concepts: Shanghai, Berlin, Abu Dhabi, and Stockholm. Even though we didn’t have all the physical designs in place, just showing pictures drew a lot of attention. I think that’s really promising for future sales.”
Is there anything else you'd like to add about Aritco's participation?
“I have to highlight that our success at the exhibition and overall is a result of great teamwork. It’s not just the local team in China; we have excellent collaboration between our teams in Sweden and China. This synergy is essential and something not easily found in other companies. Our team’s effort is what makes such achievements possible.”
