WELLNESS IN OUR HOMES

How can design and technology support professional productivity and physical and mental health in our homes in an age of hybrid working?

THE DOMESTIC ECOSYSTEM

After producing a short trend report entitled Redefining Space Post-Covid and hosting a panel discussion on the topic at Design London in September, Aritco has compiled a second report with Springwise entitled Redefining Wellness Post-Covid to coincide with Dubai Design Week.

As a new era of hybrid working looks set to stay and we are increasingly aware of our wellbeing and mental health, our homes need to be adapted to boost productivity and support resilience. This new report identifies innovative solutions from the US, Korea, Sweden and the UK that can keep us engaged, calm and mentally agile in our domestic spaces.

SMART WORKING AND WELLNESS

The height-adjustable Smart One desk will monitor air quality and how much time you have spent sitting, prompting you to get up and stretch your legs. A second smart device Root offers personalized stretching and exercise routines, and the Hej device will keep you visually connected to colleagues when working remotely.

BIOPHILIC DESIGN

As greenery has proved critical to supporting physical and mental health, a number of innovations have brought nature and botany into the home. The HomeForest digital toolkit leverages smart devices to recreate the effects of “forest bathing” which is popular in Japan, and the BioBulb device automatically feeds and waters houseplants and living walls.

DISCUSSING WELLNESS

Aritco will be hosting a panel discussion from 2pm – 3pm on Friday 12th November at The Forum, Downtown Design during Dubai Design Week to discuss how design and technology can support wellness in the home.

Design journalist Pratyush Sarup will moderate the talk between three panelists – David Schill, Marketing Director at Aritco; Isabel Pintado, Senior Vice President of Design and Innovation, Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts; and Lina Benaissa, Senior Designer at L.S. Design.

If you can’t make the panel discussion, footage from the talk will be available to view on this website soon.
