Home Lift FAQs Answered
Aritco’s Regional Sales Manager Peter Sälgström answers some of the most frequently asked questions regarding home lift installation.
Are there any key differences in concerns between clients looking for home lifts versus commercial lifts?
“Absolutely. When dealing with private homeowners, they often lack technical knowledge about the product, which leads to numerous questions regarding the lift’s driving systems and placement options. They’re concerned about how it fits into their home, especially in the case of renovations. If they’re retrofitting a lift into an existing house, it’s more complex compared to installing one in a new construction project. They need more information, not only about the lift itself but also potential modifications to their home.
“On the other hand, when working with architects, there’s typically a higher level of technical understanding, and the focus shifts more towards design and functionality based on the specific needs of the project and regulations.”
Let's dive into some frequently asked questions. Can you explain why someone should trust a home elevator?
“Home elevators are designed with safety in mind. There’s always an emergency lowering system in place. In case of a power outage, the elevator has a battery backup to ensure you can exit safely. Additionally, all our lifts come with emergency call buttons, which can be programmed to call multiple numbers until someone answers.”
Speaking of technology, how does the Aritco SmartLift App enhance security?
“The Aritco SmartLift App is a game-changer. It allows users to monitor the lift’s status in real-time. Not only does it provide immediate information on any issues, but our technicians can also remotely identify problems and take proactive measures to address them. This app provides an added layer of security and peace of mind.
How much does a home lift typically cost, and what factors influence the price?
“Home lift costs can vary widely, ranging from approximately €15,000 to €50,000. Several factors come into play, such as the lift’s size, number of stops, and the complexity of installation. Additionally, your location and ease of delivery can affect the final price. For an accurate estimate, it’s best to consult our certified partners or send a request for a cost estimate.”
How often does a home lift require servicing?
“Home lifts typically require annual servicing. However, service frequencies can vary by country and region. It’s crucial to consult with our certified partners to determine the specific requirements for your location. They can also provide information on maintenance costs and ensure your lift remains safe and reliable.”
What considerations should be made before installing a home lift?
“It’s important not to limit yourself to installing a lift only in the hallway. You can place a lift in various areas of your home, so consider different locations that best suit your needs. We offer a HomeKit that allows you to experiment with placement options.
“One thing to be careful with is installing a home lift if you have floor heating, as is common in Sweden and some other countries. This is because the lift machinery is usually attached to the floor via a shallow pit. However, we can provide a solution.
If you have floor heating and don’t want to disturb it, you can place the lift on top of it and simply install a ramp. A special adhesive is used in this scenario to affix the machinery and rails securely to the floor.”
Lastly, for those looking to understand the technical aspects better, what resources or steps would you recommend?
“The Aritco website provides comprehensive information, including a step-by-step guide, technical specifications and data sheets. However, reaching out to our certified partners is the most effective way to gain a deeper understanding of the technical aspects. They have the knowledge and experience to guide you through the process, ensuring a smooth installation.”
